Knives made of K340 steel

K340 steel is a cold-stamped tool steel from the Swedish-Austrian concern Bohler-Uddeholm. It is obtained by electroslag remelting (ESP) due to which it contains a minimum amount of impurities, which improves its properties and has a more uniform distribution of carbides (small carbides). The K340 is very good cut and holds the edge well. An approximate analogue of the domestic X12MF, the difference is K340 is less susceptible to corrosion. The hardness is 60-63 HRC.

Chemical composition of K340 steel:
Carbon C 1.10%, Silicon Si 0.90%, Manganese Mn 0.40%, Chromium Cr 8.30%, Molybdenum Mo 2.10%, Vanadium V 0.50
